Description
Course Overview:
This course introduces students to advanced decision-making by teaching them the value of chess pieces and how to use this knowledge strategically. Students develop resilience, sportsmanship, and critical thinking, helping them gracefully navigate both wins and losses.
Course Content:
Now that students have a firm grasp on the rules and basic strategies of the game, we introduce them to the system of piece point values that will help them make stronger decisions on the chessboard. In addition, as students begin to play more full games and contend with winning and losing, we emphasise resilience and sportsmanship.
Learning Outcomes:
- Use piece point values to make better decisions on the board
- Development of sportsmanship and resilience in competitive and casual play
- Building critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Engage in friendly matches with peers to enhance teamwork and self-esteem.
Teaching Methods:
We combine storytelling, art, and hands-on activities to create an engaging learning environment. Children will explore their strengths in a supportive setting that encourages enthusiastic learning.
